Editorial policy

What we list

We list independent hobby and card shops in the United States with a store you can visit. Smaller local chains of hobby shops are included.

Large retail chains without a local owner, such as GameStop and Game X Change, are not.

A shop doesn't have to sell Pokémon to be listed. Its level tells you what we found.

Where our data comes from

• Google Business Profile: name, address, phone, opening hours and photos, unless the owner has updated them. Star ratings, review counts, payment options and accessibility details are labeled as Google's.
• The shop's own website: the Pokémon level. We read public pages only.
• Shop owners: after we confirm a claim, the owner's hours, photos and details replace Google's.
• Visitors: corrections sent through our form. We check them before changing anything.

Pokémon levels

Every shop has one of four levels: Sells Pokémon, Mentioned, Not confirmed or Not yet verified. A level describes what the shop shows on its own website, not the quality of the shop. Each level comes with the date we checked.

Independence and money

• Levels can't be bought. Neither claiming a listing nor any payment changes a level.
• Claiming a listing is free.
• If we add paid placement, it will be clearly labeled Sponsored and will never change a level.
• If we ever use affiliate links, the page will say so.
• We don't write reviews and we don't accept gifts or payment for coverage.

What we write

State and city introductions are written by us from our own data: how many shops carry Pokémon, the main cities, which shops open on Sundays or late. We only name a shop when its level or its Google rating backs up what we say.

Questions and answers on shop pages are built from that shop's data. If we don't know something, we don't answer it.

Corrections and removals

• Wrong details: use Report a correction. We check the shop again and update the page and its check date.
• Closed shops: removed once we confirm the shop has closed.
• Photos: removed on request, no questions asked.
• Owners who don't want a listing: we remove it. Write to hi@151cardshops.com from an email address on the shop's own domain, or ask us to call the shop's phone number, so we know the request comes from the shop. We remove the listing within 7 days of confirming and don't add the shop back unless the owner asks us to.
